The Tattered State of Black-Jewish Relations Since October 7 with Eric K. Ward and Nadine Epstein

Thursday, July 18 at 3pm, ET / 12pm, PT

The relationship between the Black and Jewish communities was already strained before October 7, but now the divide has deepened. Join Civil Rights Strategist Eric K. Ward and Moment Editor-in-Chief Nadine Epstein for a conversation about the current state of Black-Jewish relations and why we must continue to work to narrow the divide. Topics will include the impact of the Israel-Hamas war, the American presidential elections, the ascendance of the nationalist right in France and other countries in Europe, and much more. This program is part of The Wide River Project which takes a deep dive—and fresh look—into the art, history and issues that both unite and divide the Black and Jewish communities.

POSTPONED – New date announced soon.

Not Your Father’s Jewish Mother with Rebecca Goldstein, Yael Goldstein-Love and Amy E. Schwartzin celebration of the Moment-Karma Short Fiction Contest

Tuesday, July 30 at 12pm, ET / 9am, PT

The next generation of novelists is giving us a whole new genre of books about motherhood in all its raw, sometimes surreal, sometimes even supernatural intensity. Gone are the sentimental tributes and Catskills caricatures. Who is the new Jewish mother? Join Rebecca Goldstein and Yael Goldstein-Love, a mother-daughter pair, both acclaimed novelists, as we explore the topic of motherhood. In conversation with Moment Book and Opinion Editor Amy E. Schwartz. This is a special literary event that will also celebrate the Moment Magazine-Karma Foundation Short Fiction Contest winners.
