Q: What is Moment Magazine?

A: Moment is a fiercely independent magazine that provides North American Jews with award-winning, in-depth reporting. It transcends ideology and denomination, and it delves deeply into the stories that shape our lives: the future of democracy, anti-semitism on the left and the right, intermarriage, the widening gap between American Jews and Israel, and more.

Q: What’s the difference between signing up for a newsletter, donating to Moment Magazine, or paying for a Moment subscription?

A: Reading three articles on our website and signing up to receive our Moment Minute newsletter is free. Delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Moment Minute brings what Moment editors are talking about to your inbox. To read articles mentioned in the newsletter, you will need to click on the relevant headline or image, which will take you to momentmag.com to read the full piece.

Donating to Moment Magazine means you have contributed a tax-deductible financial gift.

Paying for any Moment Magazine subscription gives you unlimited access to all content on momentmag.com.

If you want to check whether you’re a subscriber or if your subscription has expired, you can do so by attempting to log into your account on momentmag.com or emailing editor@momentmag.com.

Q: What is the frequency of Moment Magazine?

A: We publish six issues per year, and our summer issue is a double issue.

Q: How should I submit a reported or opinion piece—or a query about a piece I hope to write—to be considered for publication in Moment?

A: Moment’s reported and opinion pieces are usually commissioned, though some unsolicited manuscripts are occasionally selected for publication. Please send any queries via email to editor@momentmag.com. Please do not call our office about your submission or send a submission by mail. If submitting to Moment, please write “Submission: Essay” or “Submission: Poetry” or “Submission: Feature” in your email’s subject line. More information about submitting to Moment can be found at this link.

Q: Can I submit a story for publication in Moment if it has been published before?

A: Moment does not republish stories. Occasionally, we may accept a fresh version of a piece that has been published in a small journal or local paper that has not appeared on the internet.

Q: When will I find out if my work has been accepted for publication by Moment?

A: Moment receives hundreds of submissions each month that are handled by a very small staff. As a result, response time will vary, and we may not respond at all.

Q: Does Moment publish fiction?

A: Each year, Moment holds a short fiction contest. No fiction submission received outside the contest realm will be considered. Please check our website for contest details and guidelines.

Q: How can I submit a letter to the editor?
A: Please submit letters to the editor by email to editor@momentmag.com.

Q: If I’m a subscriber, why does the website say I only can read three articles for free?

A: If you’re a subscriber but you see this message, it means you’re not logged into the website. To log in, click “LOG INTO DIGITAL EDITION” on the top-left corner of our website, or click this link, and enter your last name and email address.

Q: I am logged into my Moment subscription, but when I click on a newsletter link on my phone, why doesn’t it show my subscription?

A: If you are signed into your Moment subscription but you open a link from the newsletter and your browser does not recognize your subscription, you are most likely signed into Moment on a different internet browser than the one that you used to open this link. For example, you may be signed into momentmag.com on your Safari browser, but you may have opened this link in your Google Chrome browser. To fix this issue, log into momentmag.com on the browser in which you’re opening this link.

Q: Can I subscribe to Moment’s newsletters for free?

A: Moment Minute, our newsletter bringing what Moment editors are talking about to your inbox on Tuesdays and Thursdays, is free to subscribe to. Q: Why are donations important to Moment?

A: Moment Magazine is a 501(c)(3), meaning that Moment is a federally recognized nonprofit organization. We are fiercely independent, and we strive to champion the intellectual tradition of Jewish journalism for generations to come. To do so, we receive support from our generous and dedicated readership, who help us fund initiatives like our Antisemitism Monitor.

Q: How can I donate to Moment?

A: You can donate online or through several other channels, which include giving stock or from a donor-advised fund, naming Moment as a beneficiary of your retirement account, and donating overlooked assets.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?

A: Yes. Moment Magazine is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization; therefore, your donation to Moment is tax-deductible in the U.S. Our legal name is Moment Magazine and our EIN # is 31-1801544. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We’ll send it to you upon the successful completion of your donation.
