General

Q: What is Moment Magazine?

A: Moment is a fiercely independent magazine that provides North American Jews with award-winning, in-depth reporting. It transcends ideology and denomination, and it delves deeply into the stories that shape our lives: the future of democracy, anti-semitism on the left and the right, intermarriage, the widening gap between American Jews and Israel, and more.

Q: What’s the difference between signing up for a newsletter, donating to Moment Magazine, or paying for a Moment subscription?

A: Reading three articles on our website and signing up to receive our Moment Minute newsletter is free. Delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Moment Minute brings what Moment editors are talking about to your inbox. To read articles mentioned in the newsletter, you will need to click on the relevant headline or image, which will take you to momentmag.com to read the full piece.

Donating to Moment Magazine means you have contributed a tax-deductible financial gift.

Paying for any Moment Magazine subscription gives you unlimited access to all content on momentmag.com.

Q: What is the frequency of Moment Magazine?

A: We publish six issues per year, and our summer issue is a double issue.

Submissions

Q: How should I submit a reported or opinion piece—or a query about a piece I hope to write—to be considered for publication in Moment?

A: Moment’s reported and opinion pieces are usually commissioned, though some unsolicited manuscripts are occasionally selected for publication. Please send any queries via email to editor@momentmag.com. Please do not call our office about your submission or send a submission by mail. If submitting to Moment, please write “Submission: Essay” or “Submission: Poetry” or “Submission: Feature” in your email’s subject line. More information about submitting to Moment can be found at this link.

Q: Can I submit a story for publication in Moment if it has been published before?

A: Moment does not republish stories. Occasionally, we may accept a fresh version of a piece that has been published in a small journal or local paper that has not appeared on the internet.

Q: When will I find out if my work has been accepted for publication by Moment?

A: Moment receives hundreds of submissions each month that are handled by a very small staff. As a result, response time will vary, and we may not respond at all.

Q: Does Moment publish fiction?

A: Each year, Moment holds a short fiction contest. No fiction submission received outside the contest realm will be considered. Please check our website for contest details and guidelines.

Q: How can I submit a letter to the editor?
A: Please submit letters to the editor by email to editor@momentmag.com.
