Soundtrack of the Jewish People: Great Songs that Reshaped America with Joe Levy in Conversation with Nadine Epstein
Tuesday, September 16 at 7PM, ET / 4PM, PT
Former Rolling Stone and Billboard editor Joe Levy will discuss the intersection of music and the Jewish experience in America including great songs by the likes of Irving Berlin, Sammy Cahn, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller that have reshaped America. He’ll also explain how Bob Dylan’s powerful 1965 “Highway 61 Revisited” transformed the American landscape at another “messy time” in American history. Levy will be in conversation with Nadine Epstein, editor-in-chief and CEO of Moment Magazine, who like Levy, contributed to the Soundtrack of the Jewish People project.
Soundtrack of the Jewish People—is an ongoing series exploring the history of Jewish contributions to the world of music—with musicians, scholars and music lovers, based on Moment’s years-long undertaking to explore music with Jewish significance.
Co-presented with Museum of Jewish Heritage.
