While Julie Brill, author of Hidden in Plain Sight: A Family Memoir and the Untold Story of the Holocaust in Serbia, was unaware about what life was like for Jews in Serbia during the Holocaust, she knew the Nazis had murdered her grandfather in Yugoslavia. Join Brill and Moment Opinion & Books Editor Amy E. Schwartz for a conversation about her father’s experience as a child during the Holocaust, his family’s secrets, how he survived and the generational trauma passed down to her as a child of a survivor. In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.
