About

Nada Higuera and Heidi Basch-Harod were strangers before October 7, 2023. But since meeting, they have penned an essay in the Times of Israel and produced the documentary Daughters of Abraham about their commitment to connecting and humanizing each other in the midst of violence and war. During this powerful conversation, Nada and Heidi will explore the journeys, challenges, and triumphs of Muslim and Jewish women today, how their story transcends religious divides and attempts to bridge faith, identity, and culture.

Joining Higuera, a constitutional attorney, and Basch-Harod, a women’s rights activist, are MALA President Zainab Khan and Moment Editor Sarah Breger. The four will discuss what it means to listen to one another through uncomfortable conversations, how to create empathy in an ever-polarizing world, and how personal connections can begin to bridge seemingly insurmountable divides.

This program is the second conversation of Beni Adam/Bnei Adam: Restoring Humanity, a joint program series sponsored by MALA (Muslim American Leadership Alliance) and Moment Magazine, that encourages a healthy and impactful exchange of dialogue, dispels myths, and builds solidarity that transcends beyond borders and religion. Beni Adam/Bnei Adam: Restoring Humanity aims to foster empathy, understanding, and respect across diverse communities, counteracting the negative forces that seek to divide and dehumanize people based on their differences.
