What are the repercussions of the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel and the resulting Israel-Hamas war for the Palestinian Authority? How are PA President Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah Party dealing with issues from settler violence to pro Hamas demonstrations, and a populace that only gets its news from Al Jazeera and doesn’t know what really happened on October 7? Why do ties between Israeli and Palestinian security forces remain strong? Will the crisis push the dysfunctional PA to reform? How are Palestinians within Israel reacting? And who should oversee Gaza after the war? Join Ghaith al-Omari, senior fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, for a wide-ranging conversation covering these questions and more. In conversation with Moment Editor-in-Chief Nadine Epstein, cofounder of the Moment Institute Middle East Fellows program.

To Nadine and Gaith al Amari,
Thank you for this discussion. It was one of the best and most informative talks about the PA/Palestinian/Israeli/Hamas, etc. presentation about the past and present situation. Not done through the means of revenge, hate or blame, but, through high intelligent sorting and dissecting of the current events. My hope is that Hamas will be removed and/or eliminated from this equation, and that eventually a new and caring Palestinian leadership that actually cares about the health and success of its people can take over without corruption.
The Israel that I love and cherish needs this to happen sooner than later. Hope they aren’t fairy wishes on my part.
Outstanding program by Mr. al-Omari, so much information and insight – just amazing and beyond interesting ! I have learned so very, very much.
Please thank him for this wonderful event which I have found so enjoyable and enlightening.
