As part of the 2024 Jewish Political Voices Project we’ve sought to ask Jewish voters from across the country and across the political spectrum about the issues they see as important in the 2024 presidential election.
After a whirlwind few weeks that started with a disastrous debate performance by Joe Biden and ended with a concerted effort by Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats to force his hand, Biden has finally dropped out of the race. But with Biden out and Kamala Harris increasingly looking like the Democratic nominee, the state of the race is up in the air.
In this update, four JPVP respondents spoke about Biden’s decision, Harris’ candidacy—how it all will affect their votes this coming November.
Aaron Weissman, Montana
“I was very impressed with the vice president’s speech on Monday. She showed energy, optimism and strength. The whirlwind of political events of the past week is unprecedented, but I think that the Democrats have a much better chance of beating Trump this November as a result of Biden’s departure and her candidacy.”

“I think it is going to be harder to beat Harris than Biden, because she is a woman and younger. It also will depend on her pick of running mate. Regardless, I think Trump will pull through in the end.”
