Moment Anniversary Expedition to Poland
June 28 – July 5, 2015
Dear Friend,
I am writing to announce a very special Moment expedition to Poland this summer, June 28-July 5, 2015. This unique journey is one of the ways we will be honoring the 40th anniversary of Moment Magazine and the 105th anniversary of the founding of Der Moment, the independent, Warsaw-based Yiddish daily, after which Moment was named. Der Moment was one of the leading publications of Poland’s independent free press between the two World Wars.
Konstanty Gebert, prominent Polish dissident, writer and Moment contributor will join our group as journalist-in-residence. We will meet many of the leaders—both Polish and American—of Poland’s Jewish renaissance, as well as the visionaries behind POLIN: the new Museum of the History of Polish Jews. We will also attend the famed Jewish festival in Kraków and hold a Moment-sponsored event celebrating the three eras of free press in Poland and the critical role Jews have played.
We are limiting the size of this trip, so please let us know quickly if you would like to join us. A $500 deposit is due by April 17th to reserve your place for what promises to be a very special experience.
To ‘whet your appetite,’ I am attaching a draft itinerary of our program. We will stay at 5 star hotels in both Warsaw and Kraków. The cost per person will be approximately $4221 person (double occupancy) exclusive of airfare. A single occupancy supplement will be approximately $680.
Aviva Meyer is coordinating this trip.
Please feel free to email her at travelwithmoment@momentmag.com or call her at 202-966-3066.
She will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
This trip came out of my amazing journey to Poland last summer. I look forward to bringing you with me as I return to further explore this country that was so crucial to the birth of Jewish culture!
Sincerely,
Nadine
