Ringo Starr – Not Jewish

Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey, in Liverpool, England, is a renowned musician and drummer best known as a member of The Beatles. He was raised in a working-class family, with his mother, Elsie, and stepfather, Harry Graves. Starr is of English descent and is not Jewish. Joining The Beatles in 1962, Ringo became an integral part of their sound with his distinctive drumming style. He also contributed vocals to several Beatles tracks, such as “With a Little Help from My Friends.” After the band’s breakup, he enjoyed a successful solo career and continues to perform with his band, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. “Some people decided to make an example of me as an English Jew,” Starr said in The Beatles Anthology. “The one major fault is I’m not Jewish.”
