Kate Berlant – Jewish

Kate Berlant is of Spanish descent on her mother’s side and Jewish descent on her father’s. On her 2022 comedy special with John Early, Would It Kill You To Laugh?, she played a fictionalized version of herself who had starred on the show He’s Gay, She’s Half-Jewish.

Berlant is an American actress and comedian, noted for her absurd and surrealist style. She gained prominence through roles in Sorry to Bother You (2018), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and Don’t Worry Darling (2022). Most recently, she has been featured in The Moment (2026) and Maddie’s Secret (2025). In 2020, she and fellow comedian Jacqueline Novak launched their podcast Poog, a spoof of Gwyneth Paltrow’s brand Goop. Her largely improvised stand-up special Cinnamon in the Wind was released on Hulu in 2022.
