Celebrities you might not have known are Jewish….or maybe you did…

June Squibb – Jewish

When she was in her twenties, June Squibb converted to Judaism for her husband. When asked what about Judaism she connected to, she said, “The temple itself. And the meals. His mother, who we tended to see on Jewish holidays. And the food was unbelievable that she’d put out on the table. I was proud of being Jewish.”

Squibb is an American actress, making her debut in the 1959 Broadway musical Gypsy. She was later in Woody Allen’s Alice and was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 2013’s Nebraska. Recently, she starred in 2024’s Thelma and 2025’s Eleanor the Great. She returned to Broadway to star in Marjorie Prime, where she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
