Celebrities you might not have known are Jewish….or maybe you did…

HAIM – Jewish

The Haim sisters (Este, Danielle and Alana) were born to an Israeli father and a Bulgarian Jewish mother. They grew up listening to Ofra Haza, the “Israeli Madonna,” and have spoken about the scarcity of Jewish pop icons.

The sisters form the Los Angeles-based rock band HAIM. They have released four critically acclaimed albums, most notably their 2013 debut Days Are Gone and 2020 Women In Music Pt. III, the later of which was nominated for a Grammy Album of the Year. Their most recent album, I quit (2025), was nominated at the Grammys for Best Rock Album. Recently, Alana has starred in movies like Licorice Pizza (2021), One Battle After Another (2025) and The Mastermind (2025). Danielle has since collaborated with Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver. Este has worked as a music consultant on The White Lotus season 2 (2023) and an executive music producer on the National Geographic series A Small Light (2023).
