Alfred Matthew “Weird Al” Yankovic – Not Jewish
Weird Al is an American comedic musician, writer and actor best known for his music parodies of pop songs. Born in Downey, CA, to Nick and Mary Yankovic, Weird Al is not of Jewish descent. However, he is commonly mistaken as Jewish due to his appearance and to his lyrical references to Judaism. His song “Pretty Fly for a Rabbi” includes the lyrics: “So how’s by you? So how’s by you? Have you seen this Jew? Reads the Torah, does his own accounting, too,” Weird Al sang. “How ya doin’, Bernie? Oy vey, oy vey! And all the goyim say I’m pretty fly (for a rabbi).”
