Founders & Team
Gallery Co-Founders: Nadine Epstein, Editor-in-Chief & CEO, Moment Magazine and Robin Strongin, Founder, The Strongin Collection. TMG’s Co-Founders work closely with Moment’s Arts Editor, Diane Bolz, Executive Assistant Johnna Raskin, and a rotating jury of experts in the arts.
Robin Strongin is the founder of The Strongin Collection. Previously, she co-founded the Center for Contemporary Political Art in Washington DC and created the award-winning Disruptive Women in Health Care Blog. Robin is the first board chair of the Boulanger Initiative, a non- profit promoting music composed by women. She served on the board of the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function, founded by Dr. Oliver Sacks and was an advisor for the Foundation of Art and Healing.
Nadine Epstein, the editor-in-chief of Moment Magazine, is a visual artist in addition to being a journalist, writer and speaker. Through her lifelong passion for keeping visual journals, she has experimented with pencil, charcoal, ink, pastels, markers, various forms of painting and printmaking. Her work has focused on the interior life of women. Other visual creative outlets have included newspaper and magazine illustration, magazine art direction and fine art photography in the form of her decade-long iShadow Project, an exploration of feminism and history through shadow portraits. A largely self-taught artist, Epstein was fortunate to take a painting class at the Parsons School of Design with Isaac Soyer when she was a young woman, and she has been the recipient of a Washington, DC Arts Commission grant. Her artwork has been shown at museums, universities, hospitals and galleries. She was the editor of and wrote the introduction for: “What Makes Art Jewish?“—one of the topics on which she leads conversations worldwide. She is delighted to be able to bring the work of artists, particularly undiscovered women artists, to light, helping to expand the prism of public discourse.
Diane M. Bolz, arts and articles editor, worked for Smithsonian magazine for more than 35 years, where, as a senior editor and arts editor, she commissioned, edited and wrote articles on the fine arts, architecture, performing arts, popular culture and history. Before coming to Smithsonian, she worked in New York City for architects I. M. Pei and Richard Meier. Bolz majored in English and art history at Cornell and Columbia Universities.
Johnna Raskin, executive assistant to the editor and event director, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and double majored in art history and Spanish. She previously worked as senior press specialist at the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History and helped launch the National Geographic Channel as Manager of Communications. She joined Moment in 2013.
