David Rubenstein: Patriotic Philanthropist, 21st-Century Renaissance Man
Thursday, November 29 at 1pm, ET / 10am, PT
From humble roots in Baltimore, the investor and Carlyle Group cofounder David Rubenstein has seemingly done it all: Wall Street lawyer, White House advisor, chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. An historian and the principal owner of the Baltimore Orioles’ baseball team, his latest books include Inside the Owner’s Box: Conversations on Power and Leadership in Sports and Speaking of America: Great Conversations at the Library of Congress. Rubenstein is also known as a “patriotic” philanthropist, having funded extensive restorations of U.S. historical monuments. He even purchased the Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence and then loaned them to the federal government. For his deep commitment and investment in our nation’s past, present and its future, Rubenstein is being honored with the inaugural Moment American Legacy Award. In conversation with Moment Special Contributor Robert Siegel, former senior host of NPR’s All Things Considered.
