STAINED GLASS ART BY HOLOCAUST
SURVIVOR GITTA EDELSTEIN

BUY IT NOW: $1,000

Gitta Clari Edelstein was born in 1926 in a small Hungarian village into a large Jewish family. Her bucolic life was shattered when the family was deported to Auschwitz in the spring of 1944. After her liberation, Gitta and two of her sisters made their way to Israel, where Gitta worked as a seamstress, married and had a family. Gitta’s passion was art: painting, needlework, mosaic tile, and especially stained glass. As her stained glass artistry grew, so did her recognition in Jewish circles. She created impressive displays like the monumental stained glass windows at the Hod v’Hadar Synagogue in Kfar Saba, as well as works for synagogues in Menasha, Wisconsin and Manchester, England. Gitta loved to share her creative skills and taught art and stained glass in schools and communities around Israel.

This is an original Gitta Clair Edelstein and measures 10” x 13.”
