Violent crowds swarmed the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6th, 2020 during President Biden’s confirmation, disrupting the proceedings and breaching the building’s police barricade. Many ethnic, racial and religious groups were targeted by rioters donning paraphernalia with historically inflammatory slogans, symbols and tropes. While the hate was widespread, Jewish Americans were subject to specific discrimination evidenced by Nazi Holocaust imagery and rhetoric. In addition, openly anti-semitic groups shouting pejoratives notably stood alongside Pro-Trump Jews carrying Israeli flags.

“Camp auschwitz” Some of the “very fine people” who trump loves so much who broke into our House, hoping to smash our democracy. Terrorizing our elected representatives. I’ll never get this image out of my head. #RemoveTrumpNow pic.twitter.com/kOTijstVhn

Religious Images
One aspect that hasn’t been picked up on by the media about the #CapitolRiots: the obvious and increasing overlap between the Christian Right and the alt-right. There were Proud Boys & Oath Keepers right alongside Trumpists waving “Jesus 2020” flags as they stormed the Capitol. pic.twitter.com/f6qbpX481u

The insurrectionist think they are holy crusaders when in fact they do not represent Jesus. A dark stain on Christianity – not God’s Love!

Can any historian confirm this is the first time the Confederate flag has flown within the Capitol building?!#ImpeachTrumpNow pic.twitter.com/tO6Gq4X7vW

This photo is something else. I had seen bits and pieces of both, but the combo Confederate Flag plus the Brooklyn boi in fur with the fecking Capitol Police shield is something to behold.
