The Moment Mission

What Makes Moment Different?

So you’re wondering what makes Moment different from all other Jewish magazines?

Good question.

Most magazines that report about the world from a Jewish perspective are eager to tell you what to think. Of course they do. That’s their job. These publications are either published by an organization motivated by an agenda or led by a person with strong opinions who wants to influence you.

At Moment, we’re independent and fiercely devoted to bringing you only the highest quality journalism. We pride ourselves on not being afraid to tell you the whole story, impartially, no matter how controversial it may be. We want you to give you the facts—in context—so you can make up your own mind about topics so relevant to Jewish life.

Which makes us the only major Jewish magazine that bends over backwards to bring you opinions from left to right, Orthodox to secular. How else can you get a full picture of what’s going on in the Jewish community—and the world?

At Moment, we believe that knowledge leads to hope. In an era, where the Jewish community (and the world) is pulling in a million different directions, Moment brings us together—and celebrates our diversity.

Moment Magazine,  dedicated to serious, highly-literate, intellectual journalism, provides the American Jewish community and other readers with a much needed independent forum that is not tied to any organization or point-of-view. Moment is committed to portraying intellectual, political, cultural, and religious debates within the community, and to educating readers about Judaism’s rich history and contemporary movements, ranging from left to right, fundamentalist to secular.  Through a high level of civil discourse, Moment strives to counteract anti-Semitism, promote Jewish continuity, and encourage constructive, meaningful discussion about Jewish life and civilization. There is no other American magazine that can reach out to and include such a wide spectrum of American Jews, sparking intelligent conversation on issues so crucial to the Jewish future.

What our readers say about us:

“The name says it all—this magazine is the ‘Jewish moment.’  It is for today’s Jew, no matter where they are in their Jewishness.”

“What I love about Moment is that it tells me we are all in the same boat, even if we have different oars.”

“More than anything else I read, Moment illuminates the issues of our Jewish moment in time. It is irreverent and willing to take on the difficult subjects that impact us.”

”At a time when so much of the Jewish community is pulling in different directions, with Moment I am reminded of the fascination of being Jewish.”

Moment is my way to connect Jewishly. I don’t belong to a synagogue, but yet Moment makes me feel part of the Jewish community.”

"Thank goodness there is a place where Conservative, Reform, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, humanist and secular Jews can all be part of the same Jewish community. Moment is equally interesting no matter what kind of Jew you are.”

”This year I gave Moment as a gift to all of the young Jews important to me.  It is a way for them to read interesting modern Jewish ideas and discussions even if they are not otherwise connected with Jewish community.”

Moment makes me proud to be Jewish.

“I love the fact that Moment is independent. I really appreciate reading a spectrum of political opinions and understanding where other Jews are coming from.”

Moment doesn’t pander, doesn’t pretend to be “hip” and is never shlockey. This well written magazine tells the story like it is.”

”What a beautiful magazine!”

”I always enjoy reading Moment, even when I disagree with it.”
